Back in Action: Italian Market Festival
Philly is in full bloom! This past weekend was the Italian Market Festival. A weekend to celebrate the Italian Market, there is lot of food, and venders lining the market and the city closes off 9th Street from Fitzwater to Federal for the festival . Living near the market is a noisy few days, but you have to love a street fair.
This is my favorite shop in the market. The "One Stop Accordion Shop" Liberty Bellows. The Accordion is in my top five favorite instruments. I love that this shop even exists and that I get to walk by it on my way to go to the market.
Oh, what is this you may say. This isn't the Italian Market. No this is my cardigan, look at that button band, all it need now is some buttons.

Under Construction
I am taking a week off to get my content on track and start planing upcoming tutorials and such. Earlier this year I said I wanted to have more tutorials and how to type posts and have only had one since I made that decision. It was also a variation on an existing knitting pattern and I want to have more original stuff on here.
I will be posting my finished items this week as I feel that this week will be a week of completion and planing. I also am deciding if I am going to participate in Me-Made June '11. June would be a hard month as I am working at summer camp and my usual clothing choices are paint covered shorts and old tees. I'm going to look through my wardrobe and see how I feel about it.
Check out my Facebook page and my Twitter as I will be updating and posting to those accounts while I am planing, sewing and knitting this week.
Thanks for understanding. I'm hoping to have a more informative blog, so please check back and see whats new next week.

More DIY Rebellion
Recently I blogged about sewing as a form of rebellion in my post Makes You Think. That post was in response to Peter Lappin's article on Burdastyle titled Sewing as a Protest.
In the same vein of thought one of my favorite blogs, Offbeat Home, has a post about Repair as Rebellion. This post by Cat Rocketship addresses our disposable culture, and how buying quality items, repairing broken items, or hiring someone to fix something instead of throwing it away is a form of rebellion against this mentality. It also gives you a list of things to have handy to make your own repair kit.

To Do List
Things To Do:
1.) Finish cotton cardigan. I am so close to being finished with the knitting. I am hoping is is completed by the end of next week.
2.) Finish Sewing Shorts for Softball. Much like my sweater I am almost finished I just need to put in the elastic or draw string or whatever. Half the problem is that I'm not sure how I want to finishes these. Any ideas?
I am also debating on weather or not to hem these. The knit won't fray and I do like the raw edge look, but I'm not sold on it.
3.) Work on design. That's all I can really say. and here is a weird pic of all my supplies sitting together. I love all the green.
4.) Figure out what I am wearing to a wedding at the end of the month and maybe sew it. (If I have time.) I'm thinking about the Heidi , but I also love the Danielle but sans the sleeves.
5.) Go to Spool, (I could spend my whole paycheck there) and look for some inspiring prints.
6.) Read Lemon and Raspberry's posts about better blog content.
7.) Finish my spring cleaning before it become summer cleaning.
I will be a busy bee this upcoming week.

Update
The weather is icky out, cold and rainy, and I have to be at work early today so unfortunately there will only be a small post. No plans today except for work, and yesterday I had an unexpected day off. I took this as a sign that I was suppose to use Tuesday to work on my design and sew a pair of shorts that I can wear for softball. All of these things happened and I had an interesting time with the shorts, but I will save that for next time. Another thing I will be talking about is my cotton sweater, both sleeves are complete and I picked up stitches for the neckline last night and even knit a few rows.
I promise a better post tomorrow and Friday, especially after being a slacker for two days.
