Summer Adventures: 4th of July

This Independence Day was my first in 6 years that wasn't spent at camp, and I must say I had a great time.  We spent the whole afternoon at FDR park, cooking and eating and drinking beers.  Then it was off to North Philly to watch the fire works.  Here's a sampling of photos from the day.

We cooked some traditional and non traditional bbq meats.  (Traditional hot dogs and burgers, Non traditional gator ribs and caribou.)

This dude was just strolling through the park dresses as an American Flag.

Even our Jello shots were patriotic.

(P.S. There are only a few more days to enter the Alchemy Hour Giveaway!)

Pictures and Packing

The title of this post pretty much sums up how I've been spending my day. Editing photos and packing for my trip up to my parents.

I still have a ton of yarn photos to edit, back to picnik for more editing.

The Tide Pool

Simon took me to the beach a few weeks aga, Balck Head Beach to be exact, and we went exploring on the rocks just around the head land. There were tons for tidal pools made in the rocks with lost of life teaming in these and I saw live starfish, giant sea snail as big as my fist and sea urchins.

I even got a little too close to the sea life when I fell into the tide pool while trying to get a picture of two live starfish under a rock ledge. I got soaked, but I saved my camera and got a pretty good shot of said starfish.

Said starfish in one of the many tide pools on Blackhead Beach. This is the shot I got right before I fell into the tide pool and had to walk around for the next hour with a wet bum.

Pounce: Photography

Pounce is one of my favorite ways to shop on Etsy, and I thought that I would share a few of the shops I discovered this morning.

Dark and whimsical is how I would describe these photos. They remind you of fairy tales, but not the cleaned up Disney Version, more like the Grimm Brothers' fairy tales. I love the haunting quality of these photos, washed out and antiquated like an old book full of secrets.

Is a Photographer in Barcelona and has Beautiful gothic style black and white photos of Beaches, statues, and flowers. These shots are breath taking. The use of light and shadow gives these photos a romantic Bronte look about them.

EmiliaJane
Has a mix of whimsical black and white photos as well as vibrant colored floral close ups. This shop has a great mix, but what drew me to it was the "Music in the Forest" series.

Check them out!
