Spring is in the Air

The weather in Philly has been amazing.  Ok maybe not super awesome amazing, but it has been nice, well except for yesterday when it rained all day long.  For real though March has been anything but a lion and has been mild and even warm.  It has tricked everything into growing.

Simon and I spent our Saturday walking all over the city.  It was too nice to stay in.  The sun was out and some crocuses were trying to push their way up between dead leaves and cold soil.

My great grandmother who was alive while I was young use to say that once the crocuses sprouted it had to snow on them three times before spring would stay around.  I know this is an old wives tale, but I love the idea of using the first spring flowers as a why to predict how close spring is.

Spring Sewing Plans

Now that I've finished my dress project I want to start looking ahead to spring and summer.  I have also been inspired by the latest posts on Dixie DIY.  They were about cataloging your wardrobe and looking for gaps and reasons why things don't get worn.  You can read part I and part II.

I'm not sure if I want to go all fancy with spread sheets and categories about color and patter, but it would be great to get an idea of what I've got, what I don't wear, why I don't wear it, and what I need.

On the subject of sewing.  I don't know if I need any of theses items, but I really want to make them.

Sorbetto, Coletterie
Colette's Sobetto is deffinatly something I will be making in many different colors and prints.  I may just have to learn to draft sleeves just so I can make a few fancy dress shirts.

Pantastic Sailor Digs

Pants are something I really want to tackle in the next few months.  Especially wide leg sailor pants.
Cropped Collarless Jacket
This Chanel inspired jacket makes me drool and want to tailor some more. These three projects could keep me busy for awhile.

Finally Spring!

Today is a beautiful day out, to quote some Frog and Toad "the sun is shinning, the flowers are growing, the birds are chirping." With the warm weather also comes the rising of the water temp. The current water temp in Atlantic city is in the low 50's which means we should be expecting a surfing trip in the near future. Now that Simon and I not only have a board, but own wet suit we will be able to surf earlier in the spring and later in the fall extending our surf season by at least a month. Simon is ready to jump in the still chilly waters, while I am not "core" yet and am ok waiting for the waters to hit that high 50's to low 60's.

Because Simon and I are getting ready for surfing I was searching surf photos on etsy and I found this great photographer. His name is Adam Dewolfe and I have fallen in love with his photos. Take a look http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=7246635.

Here's what I've been up to. Hopfully I will have more time to sew now that I am finished with the show.
P.S. I finally Listed the "Surf or Die" tote.
