My Name is Amanda and I am a 27 year old, knitting, yarn spinning, surfing, book reading, home seamstress, nanny that currently lives in the city of brotherly love. 

This cutie is my partner in crime, Simon. He's a guitar playing, music teaching, surfing, Australian.  He cracks me up, keeps me sane and drives me crazy all at the same time.

We got married a year ago.  When people ask me what it's like now that we're married I say it's the same only we aren't living in sin anymore, and we have a joint bank account.

Things about me.  I love, LOVE, anything fiber related it can be yarn or roving or knitting I am bound to love it and want it.  Whether it's wool, alpaca, silk, cotton, or bamboo I will want to knit it into something wonderful.  Next to Simon, knitting maybe my favorite thing ever.

I also enjoy sewing and have embarked on a pledge to not buy any new ready made clothes.  Hard as this sounds it's been very liberating and I love styling, sewing, thrifting and creating my own wardrobe.

My next hobby is surfing.  Yes, Simon taught me to surf and it is one of the best things I have every learned to do (next to knitting).  There is nothing like paddling into a wave, feeling the drop, springing to your feet and riding it into the shore.  I ride a short board, 5' 11" single fin, he is yellow and vintage (not pictured, the board in the photo is my Oz board the Red Barron ).  I found him in a surf shop for sale for a ridiculously low price it was love at first sight.

I'm a bit kookie, a lot of fun and love drinking coffee.  I spend a lot of my time, well, knitting and designing.  I am hoping that one day I can quite my day job and just design.  It feels more and more like this could be a reality.  One of my designs was published in Creative Knitting's September 2011 issue and I have another design that they are publishing for their January 2012 issue.
