Bananans

Like I said, I've been working on my spring line and here is the first item that will make the cut. This is a mesh knit banana silk scarf. I have two , and i'm keeping the blue one!
I haven't set a date for the release of my spring line yet. I felt that April was too late, but I'm not sure if I will be ready by March. I think I'm going to try mid March. That gives me time to order my supplise and get a small stock together.

With these scarves I may knit them in two solid colors and one varrigated. I haven't totally decided. Now I have to wait for my yarn samples to arrive to press on.

Icky

I had an icky work day.
I will now consume lots of Chocolate, and work on my Spring line.

*My lace is huge!*

This is my mom's wee tree, it has all the christmas orniments that my brother and I made for her through the years. There are some on that tree that I made in Knidergarden.
This one is the actual tree in the family room. I took this one after we opened presents on Christmas eve.
This is one of my favorite pics of my brother. Simon and i bought him a snuggy and made him put it on for a photo op. It has moose, bears, deer, and tree stumps printed on the fleece. Zach couldn't stop laughing when he opend it up. He is going to be the coolest kid at RIT.

December's Aftermath

I'm so tired. I felt like I ran a marathon yesterday.
Today I slept in and I did get to go to the yarn shop in the town over from mine. I bought some more teal silk and some yellow and orange wool for a scarf. I've been trying to break out of my blue green circle, but I love that color family so much. I though a bright rock melon orange would look nice and go with most of my teal items in my closet.

I'd love to post some pics of my new yarn or even a gift or two that I got, but sadly that will have to wait till I am back in my apartment in the city of brotherly love. I also got two proto-types finished for Blue Betty's spring line. It's a lace mesh scarf knit up in banana silk, and I ordered samples of the bamboo I want to use in the colors I'm interested in. Over all I felt that I've been decently productive this month, but I need to get my butt in gear. I want all my proto-types done in January. Time to get my butt in gear.

Not to spread myself too thin I also got a lighting design gig for a production of one acts in Febuary. I figured that the small chunk of change that i make doing that i can split between my savings and Blue Betty and order supplise for the spring line.

Tomorrow Simon and I are on the road to Philly. I'm working all week Sunday to Sunday, at least my pay check will look nice this week.

Christmas Eve

It's Christmas Eve and it's a beautiful white Christmas up here in the Finger Lakes. I've been home for two days and my mom has been baking like crazy. We have five different baked goods in the house not to mention the fudge I made. The tree is up and looks beautiful and I would post a piture, but I forgot my USB cable for my camera.

Tonight my mom is making a roast with all the trimmings and we'll make a pie for tomorrow. We'll open our presents to each other and watch about four different movies from batman to a Christmas story.

On Christmas morning we go to My mom's friend Mindy's and have a giant Breakfast with all the family friends. There's no other way to celibrate the birth of baby Jesus than with Bacon and mimosas. Then we'll come home and open our stockings, then it's off to Rochester to spend the rest of the day with my mom's dad. Grandpa King will have the turkey and potatoes and mom is taking up her famous sweet potatoes and apple pie.

It's all very wholesome, or at least it appears to be, but I really love spending the Holidays with my family. Next Christmas Simon and I are going to Australia for Christmas and the New Year. It will be the first holiday that I'm not home, but Simon has been staying here for the past two years, and it will be exciting to see Australia.

My lace is coming along and it is taking longer for me to finish a row. I blame that on two things, the lace, and the number of stitches on my needles.

Happy Holidays to All!

It's growing! I've got about two inches in the lace pattern. It's moving a lot faster than I thought it would.

Tomorrow Simon and I leave the city for the country. I'm excited to go home, it's a great place to visit. I've wraped all the presents. Simon's are mostly at my parent's house already. That way there is no risk of him peeking.

Harmony Lace

Here it is! My lace is growing! I took this pic yesterday afternoon, It's a bout an inch and a half larger since then. I just started the actual lace part of the knitting and it's moving really fast. I'm amazed because the last lace project i did with tiny yarn and tiny needles took FOREVER. This one is moveing right along and the yarn is so fun i never know what color is next. Of course the lace patern I chose was fish tail lace and i have two repeate of it all ready.

As crazy as this project is i'm really enjoying it. I love the way it is turning out.

Holiday Cheer

I would love to post about my Christmas presents here, but my family know how to get to my blog, But here are a bunch of indiscriminate bags that contain said gifts. I still need to wrap, but i have a few more things to get. That's my surfboard in the back, it has become our impromptu tree in a sense. I miss surfing, the water is way to cold right now, even with my wet suit. I will just have to wait till May.

Below are a pair of fingerless mitts I'm knitting for my boss at the shop. We had a holiday party, but she didn't really get anything, so these are for her. I've also made about a ton of fudge for all my friends and employers. I have three containers full.

I'm in town for two more days then it's off to PY, NY to see the family. I hope they have a lot of snow and that my mom has made cyclops cookies. They're on of my favorites, peanut butter cookies with a giant hersey kiss in the center!

Lace Knitting

My lace is GIANT! I think it's giant. I'll Pst some photos of it tomorrow.
I'm also working on a pair of fingerless mitts for my boss with some hand painted yarn. They are coming out well. I've been working all week and can't wait for the holiday and visiting my family. I just saw them about a month agao, but I can't think of spending the holiday anywhere else.

Holidays

The Holidays are here, last night was the shop's holiday party. It was at my favorite resturant on South St. in Philly. It's this Italian resturant called LaFourno. They have the best Penne a la Vodka and their desserts are amazing.

We had our polly anna and I got the most lovely blue (my favorite) angora and ribbon yarn.
These are totally my colors. I'm not sure what I'm going to make, but they are so yummy to look at.

To Early

This is too early for me to be up, and it's not even for something fun. I'm not sure what would be fun and require you to get up at 8am, but I'm sure there is someything I could be doing that is more fun that being up and getting ready for work. I've had two late evenings in a row and two early mornings imediatly following, not fun.

Today is an odd day for me as i have overhire work at a local theatre in Philly and must be there by 9am. My usual day jobs don't neeed me to roll out of my bed till at least 10am, sometimes later although i feel very sloth like if i sleep later than 11am. I love working at the theatre, but it sometimes interfers with my sleeping and knitting, two things that are vey important to me.

Tonight is the knitting circle's holiday party. It's going to be ons of fun. We are all going out to La Fourno on South st. (super yummy Italian food) then we play the white elephant game, or cut throat pollyanna as some know it. I've made a lovly pair of fingerless mitts. I hope I get Yarn!

LBD

I have a wedding to go to tonight and since it's at 5:30 tonight and in the middle of december i'm wearing my LBD. But i do have some awesome accesories to wear with it.
The gray wrap I crocheted out of a wool and silk blend. It's about 6 feet in length and all pinapple lace. It's from the book vintage crochet. I love all the patterns in that book.

Sewing Machine

I'm in the market for a sewing machine. I've been looking everywhere and have been asking anyone with any experience for advice. One of the women at the circle is a textile enginer and I've been picking her brain as to what would be the best machine for me.
I need something small and portable that can do multiple sitiches including multiple sizes lengths and zig zag stitch, button holes, and zippers. It should be able to sew through delicates and heavy fabrics like canvas. I only want to spend about $150 on one.
I've used other peoples machines and have tried everything from a singer to a viking to a brother and I think I'm over informed and not sure what the real difference is.

If anyone has some advice let me know.

Sad face

I broke my favorite knitting needle tonight. My favorite needles is robin's egg blue and are vintage size US 11. I was using them knitting this lace banana silk scarf and dropped one on the marble floor at the knitting circle and the nub broke off.

I found thepiece that broke off and will super glue it back together.

I'm working a lot this week, not that i'm complaining, but I really want to work on my designs and knit. Monday is the holiday party for the kniting group and I need to make a present for the polly anna. Last year I brought my hand dyded. This year I think I will make something, maybe fingerless mitts, or a scarf. We'll see what comes to mind.

Pouncing

I've been playing around on Etsy using the pounce search tool and found some really neat sellers. Below are a few that I love, check them out.

Atumn Hollow Farms on Etsy makes hand turned crochet and knitting needles. They have a beautiful crochet hook in ebony that is absolutly gourgous!

http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5610244

Tangledcolors is a shop with hand painted yarn. The colors are vibrent and beautiful, and the banner in the shop is super cute. I love the Underwater colorway, beautiful stuff.

http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=6507388

Spinningsisters is a shop with yummy spinning fiber. They hand dye all their fiber and it comes in beautiful colors.

http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=6385873

Lake House Loft is another shop with yummy spinning fiber. The colors are rich and the fibers look soft and fluffy.

Check these shops out they have great stuff!

Solomon's Knot

For the past hour I've been strugling to understand and crochet an swatch in Solomon's knot. I'm not exactly sure what I'm suppose to do. There's a whole section about big loop and the book I'm using has great patterns in it and I've made stuff from it before, but their directions for this stitch pattern are not clear and their photos make no sense to me.

Maybe it's too late for solomon's knot. It's off to bed for me...or back to knitting on two circular needles at least that makes sense.

Cold Outside

It's super chilly outside and Simon and I just walked back about 10 block from my frinds apartment. Our Friend Tay Tay cuts Simon's hair and since we have a wedding to go to it was that time again. Today was very unproductive, well that's a bit of a lie I got my new book "Craft Inc." which is a crash course in Business for crafters. It's got great advice and tips and I'm half way through it already and have started to design a smal spirng/summer line for Blue Betty. I could stay up for hours designing right now, but I need to sleep as I have to work tomorrow.

More about "Craft Inc." and Blue Betty's Spring/Summer line later.

More on Mitts

I've posted about these mitts quite a bit, but I finally listed them today on in my Etsy shop. I then went to work and when i came home they had sold! I was shocked and danced around my apartment. When Simon gets home from class we may have to go to the WaWa to get a celibratory treat. Maybe icecream, or a donut, something full of fat and sugar.

I also listed some of the cowls I made recently. I'm keeping the sea cowl for myself, but I have a few on my Etsy and will have more up soon.

Overall Today was very productive. I even applied for a Lighting Design gig in Philly.

I thought tis photo turned out great!

Sea Cowel

I made my fisrt cowel over Thanksgiving and found the photos I took on my camera. I crocheted this out of a white wool arcrylic blend. It was a bit cheep, but I wasn't sure if i was going to like it or not. The buttons are my favorite and I was looking for a reason to use them. They are black vintage buttons from a Navy Pea Coat. They're Giant and have anchors in the center. I must admitt i'm a sucker for anything nautical.
The Yarn was a worsted, but I doubled it and used a K hook. It's super cozy and while my mom wasn't impressed her co-worker Tracy loved it as well as some strangers at the Farmer and craft market we go to.

Theatre Work

Today I worked at a theatre!
As much as I want to knit and create things I still love working in theatre. I went to a focus today which is one of my favorite things to do. Mostly you are wandering around in the dark some where high either on a ladder or on a cat walk, while some Lighting designer stands in a pool of light and tells you where to point it.

I love the fast pace, the heights, the effects. There is also something extremly rewarding about doing something you got a degree in. I miss not working in a theatre full time, but at the same time the reason I love doing over hire calls is because I don't do it everyday.

Home Sweet Home

Simon and I drove through 6 hours of rain, actually Simon drove and I rode, and napped and knit. Mostly I napped. But we're home in our tiny apartment. I missed our place with our drafty windows and tiny rooms.

Also all my yarn is here!

No luck with black friday for my etsy shop. I am hoping for something tomorrow!
Free Shipping till December 5th!

Country Girl

Tomorrow it's back to Philly and this is one of the first times I kind of don't want to go. I don't want to live here, but i'df love to stay an extra few days. If I didn't have to work and Simon didn't have class we would stay longer, but I do have work and Simon has class on Monday. The more and more I think about it the more I miss the country, but I think I would miss the city once I was living in the country. And by no means am I ever living in the subburbs.

At heart I will always be a country girl.

Shanty Town Christmas

Every year after Thanksgiving my family gets together with all our family friends and have shanty town Christmas. We eat a ton of food and all of us make a gingerbread house and decorate it. It so much fun and has become a holiday tradition to make the begining of the christmas season. Here are some high lights.

One of the kid's houses.

My Best friend Beaner's house. His house is super classy this christmas, no tires out front.

Mora adding more goodies onto her house. She really likes the Tootsie Rolls.

This is the one Simon and I made. I worked on the front with it's classy waffle cone walkway and pretzle square windows.

And Simon worked on the back. That green thing is his impromptu gumdrop and reindeer corn dog.

No Way!

I'm in the free shipping promotional gift guide on Etsy!

Check it out, My Neapolitan Coffee Cuff is listed!

mmmmm...food!

Turkey and Stuffing! One of my Favs!

My Mom made home made crust.

I made the whipped cream.

Turkey Day!

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

I will post some pics of my thanksgiving later tonight. The turkey is in the oven and my parents house smells delicous. The pies look great and now Mom and I are just waiting for the rest of the family to show up. After I post i'm going to go get ready and put on my fancy pants...or really just my fancy sweater. We have a ton of food for today, I forget every year how much we eat, and drink. My family are big wine drinkers, and my mom is an enabler as she works for an amazing winery up the road.

Also I thought I'd quickly post about my sale on Etsy.
To celebrate the holiday season I'm offering free shipping on all orders made till December 5th. Also all bags are 10% off (prices have been edited to show discount) and all orders will come with a free solid color coffee cuff, for you to keep or give as a gift.
Feel free to stop by and take a look.

Have a great day!

Turkey Eve

I'm home for the holiday. After three hours of driving through the keystone state, some free Hot Chocolate (thanks VFW Travel days), three hours through Upstate New York , and one stop for gas, Simon and I arrived in my Home Town and my parents house.

I must admit I love coming home for the holidays, or any reason to visit. I don't want to stay, but I love visiting. My brother is also home from college and my mom's side of the family is coming down for Thanksgiving, so tomorrow should be filled with wine, food, and interesting family matters.

My parents took us out tonight and we had a great dinner at my mom and dad's new favorite resturant Pepper. After that we ended up at the AT&T store and I got a flash new Blackberry Curve. It is one of the fanciest pieces of technology that i have ever owned. My Dad got one too he liked it so much!

I'm so glad i came home for a few days, i really love being with my family. We are tons of fun!

Posting in the AM

My day hasn't even started, but my day isn't ending till 11:30pm tonight, so I thought that I'd post be fore work. I found this photo in my blog folder. This statue is in this tiny park on the corner or Chestnut and 5th. I use to walk through it on my way to the theatre this fall.

I'm still Hookin' .

Candy stripes

I dyed this yarn a year ago and found it while I was going through my stash. It was a nice wool that I hand painted in yellow, orange and pink. I carried a strand of cream mohair with it, and it reminded me of these citrus candies my grandma use to get that looked like slices of lemons and oranges.

Another

Another one! I'm back on the scarves. This one is a hand dyded cotton linen blend with some nylon ladder yarn running through. I worked this scarf lengthwise and striped the hand dyed and the ladder yarn. I used huge needles US 17, not my 35's, but pretty beefy. This one came out super long.

Handmade Pledge

I took it!

Done and done. Time to start my holiday shopping!
I sold my first scarf yesterday on Etsy. I ran into the kitchen and almost took Simon out. He's so suportive and sweet. He gets excited even though I know it's not as big of a deal to him as it is to me. I'm glad he is so suportive

It snowed today in Philly. It is also very cold and our heat is all weird in the new place. It sounds like we have a small stream running through our bedroom.

Running

I've been workig extra hours at the shop as well as more hours as a nanny. Lately I feel like I've been running, but the extra cash is nice. The extra money is going toward Christmas presents. I'm making a few, but I'm going to try to purchase most of my presents on Etsy, or at least atempt to make most of my purchases hand made.

I happen to mention this to Simon and he was a little dis heartened. First, he is worried that whatever I purchase for him will look silly, or like somthing nanna made out of yellow acrylic yarn. (sorry nanna, I loved my afgan). Secondly, he cringed when I mentioned I wanted him to purchase hand made items for me. I don't quite understand this as he hate going to the mall. I'm going to chalk this all up to the fact that it's new or different. I'm going to win him over to the handmade side.

Snacks

I am a snacker. I love snacks and my new favorite is popcorn. Simon and I have been making it on our stove and it is so yummy.

So our evenings have been watching Friends or some other show while I knit. Then we make a huge pot of popcorn.

Maybe I should use my rekindled love of popcorn and make some new items with a crochet popcorn stitch.

Hand Spun Cowel

I knit up that hand spun of mine into a cowel. It came out really nice. This is the first time I ever knit with my own hand spun. I love the way it the silk slubs in the wool. The silk is from nepal and is recycled fibers from the sari looms in India. the colors in the silk are so vibrent.

I'm going to spin more of this combo up, because it is so much fun to spin and to knit.

Sunday

I worked today and the shop was hopping. There were two girls waiting outside the dhop for me to open and then i had a couple come in and the girlfriend spent 45 min picking out yarn and then i had someone else come in. That was how my day was, I barely got any of my usual stuff done. I got about a 5 min break between customers to vaccuum the rugs.

I would much rather work be like today with lots of customers who ask questions and want to know about yarn then the days when there seems to be no one any where.

I'm still hyped up from my Etsy sale. I hope to have more of those in my future.

Saturday, November 15, 2008

First!

I just made my first Etsy Sale. I am so excited!
Whoo hoo!!!

Blah

I feel so blah today. I didn't have to work till 3:30 and it was only watching the boys for two hours (I nanmy 3 times a week, it's good pocket money), but I don't feel like I did anything today. I started a new project and wove in some ends on a few that I had finished. I feel very uninspired and that anything I started today is ick.

I did get all nice and dressed only to get curry sauce on my shirt and have to change. I also told Simon I wanted to go out, mostly because I want to be around people and not sit on our couch like a bump on a log, but the longer we stay here the more I think we should just go buy ice cream and put on my pajamas and curl up on my couch.

I better leave my apartment before I become stuck on the couch

Finished Mitts

I finished the mitts. Ok they've been completed for awhile, but they needed somthing. I played around with ribbon and bottons, but I like this surface crochet instead. The green sock yarn brings out the green in this creamy heather yarn.

This will be up in my etsy shop as soon as I get some good shots

Hand Spun Yum

Here are some better pics of that green hand spun I posted.
It's so beautiful, I took a ton of shots and none of them do this yarn justice.

This one was the same wool only undyed and spun with rycycled sari silk fibers

I used mostly red and purple silk its a double ply. I spun a single with the wool and sari silk together and then I spun a lace weight single of just the wool.

Then I plied the two together. It was a wonderful experiment and i feel that the result is beautiful and exotic looking.

Brrrrrrrrr!

It has gotten so cold out side. It's nice I like bundling up and wearing all my knits. The best is cuddling up with hot chocolate and a toasty blanket.

Tonight walking home I wish I had worn my heavy winter jacket. I think I'll make a new scarf for me, or two or three.

Monday, November 10, 2008

Hand Spun Yum

Yummy Yummy hand spun. I dyed and spun this wool. I can't wait to use it, it's got such pretty blues and greens in it. What should I knit with it? I'm thinking a scarf or cowel I have a little less than 300 yards.

Worse theif ever

Just got back from work and the weirdest thing happened. We have knitting circles where I work and we also have art for sale and tonight we had a knitting meet up. We were all merrily knitting away or chatting and this random guy came into the shop and grabbed one of the paintings near the door. Everyone in the shop yelled in one huge voice, stopping the guy and making him have an awkward conversation with my bos about buying the painting.

It was so weird and great that we had our circle of ten knitters to help stop him.

Icky Rain

It's been icky here in Philly for what seems like forever. Ok, maybe it's only been two days, buit it feels like a week. All I want to do is curl up on my couch watch dirty dancing and knit and drink a yummy cop of tea. I think that is how I will spend my evening tonight.

Hope there are better days to come

First Friday

Tonight is the first friday in November. In Philly that means the place to be tonight is Old City. First friday is popular because tons of the galleries in Old City open their doors. It's a great time to go and see new works of art or just poeple watch.
I've accidently been in Old City on a first Friday and didn' t realize what it was till later. Tonight I'm Draging Simon to Old City for his first friday in Philly and my second, but at least this time I know whats going on.

Mitts

I made mitts on two circular needles. It's the first time I made two mitts at one time and It made it so much easier and faster. I tend to not finish my second anything. I've used magic loop and dpns, but i think that two circilar needles is the way to go.

These will be up in my shop in a few days once i weave in my ends and give them a little something something.

Fish Tails and Jasmine

I Just finished this hat. I love this lace pattern and this yarn, it looks beautiful all knit up with the eyelets. The lace pattern is fish tail lace and the yarn is Louisa Hardings Jasmine, which has been sitting in my stash for months and I still have more. This yarn is 48% cotton, 39% bamboo, 10% silk, and 3% polyester , which is the silver metalic that runs through this yarn. These pictures really do n't do this hat justice, but I couldn't wait to post it.

It's so yummy to work with and comes in many colors, the one i used is duck egg and I love it! I can't wait to wear it and I may consider making a few for my Etsy.

And that is a plate that the hat is blocking on. It's perfect for blocking tams.

Election '08

I finally got to vote! And boy am I glad I did.

Tuesday, November 4, 2008

Election Day

I went to vote before work and the wait was an hour, and I only had a half hour. Now I'm going to go to work and ask my boss if I can lleave mid day to go vote. I really want to vote, but I Have all this anxiety about voting. It's mostly because I have to wait in line and this is the first time i'm voting at my poling place. I voted durring the last election, but by absente ballot. So this whole this is new and i just want to get it done and not have to stand in line waiting to just flip a little lever.

Off to work and hopefully to vote.

Recycled Sari Scarf

I finished another item for my etsy shop. This one is different to what I've listed before, and is a scarf knit from recycled sari silk yarn from Nepal. It came out beautiful and I have more pictures of it at Blue Betty.

Here's one that's not up in the shop.

I love this yarn it a fair trade yarn that's handspun by a womans co-op in Nepal. The proceeds from this yarn is used to send their children to school. It's also good for the enviroment because the fibers come from the salvage from the sari manufacturers in India. These fibers use to get thrown out before, but now they are made in to a beautiful yarn.

If your in the Philly area Nangellini on South St carries this yarn, or you can order it and learn more at www.recycledsilk.com. The same woman's co-op also spins Banana Silk which is a rayon made from the leaves of the banana tree.

OMG!

This morning I was rudly awaken by my next door neighbor playing Metallica at 8am in the morning. Although I was awake before I wanted to be I checked my email and there is a blog that wants to feature me and my etsy shop. I've only been selling for a week so I was shocked. Pleasently surprized, but i thought that it would take longer. I Still haven't made a sale, but this is a great opertunity.

Also i've been working on a few different things for my shop. I have a hat i'm working on that is absolutly gorgous, but i think it's the yarn that makes it as beautiful as it is. I'll post a pic tomorrow when i can get some good pics of it in the light.

Philly

I love South Philly.

I saw these row homes and loved the bright paint, and the more traditional one sandwiched between them.

Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween!

I'm going to a birthday/Welcome to the country/Halloween party tonight and I'm not sure if i'm going to dress up. Well i might wear more make-up than usual. Either way it will be fun to go. The party is for my two friends one has a birthday today, and his fiance has just moved to the states to stay. She's from York and i'm so excited that she's here.

Today was the Phillies celebration parade. I went and got some photos. Simon had class and since he's a good student he didn't skip, although it's a two hour wait for septa so it might take him awhile to get home.

Pretty Trees

I just posted two new items in my shop. Tonight I think i'll set up my etsy mini.
Check out this pics I took near my street.

The sun in the trees was so beautiful.

And I loved the tunnel these trees make over the side walk.

Broad Street

Simon and I just got back from Broad Street. It's crazy, there are people everywhere.

I love that the clock tower at city hall is in these pictures.

Go Phillies!!!!!!!!!!!

The Phillies just won the World Series!!!!!!!!

Blue Betty is Open!!

I opened my Etsy shop tonight!!
Vist me at bluebettyshop.etsy.com, as of right now I only have four things up, but soon there will be more!

I really can't contain myself, I finally opened my Etsy shop for real real. I've been thinking about this for about five months and I've been activly planning for about two months.

The scarfs in the pic are in my shop, well the purple one and the green one are. I'll psot the yellow one in a day or two. But that's enough about me i'm listening to the world series game and hoping for a Phillies win. This waiting for the finish of the game has been so hard. The city is so energized, I'm so excited to be living in this city at this time.

More for later!

GO PHILLIES!!!

Cold and Windy

Today was super cold. It might not have been too bad if it wasn't rainning or windy out. I was kind of glad to be at work all day in a nice warm shop. Since I'm originally from upstate New York I feel wussy if I have to turn the heat on before November. I rmember waking up at 6:30 in the morning to get ready for school and the floors in the house being chilly.

The only exception is if it snows and stays below 40 degrees for a week. No wonder I love making scrafs and hats. Brrrrrrrrrrr....I'm glad I have my very own Simon Space Heater in my bed.

Almost two scarfs done I'll post pics tomorrow.

Purple Scarf

So maybe I did go Scarf Crazy. I started my third today and it's quite lovely. In my pile of yarn, that is mostly tucked away in a nice box/coffee table thing, I found this vibrent hand painted purple yarn. Bulky and wool so it will work up fast and be super warm. I'll post a pic when it's done. I'm a little less than half way through, but I expect to finish tonight durring the 5th game of the world series.

I like baseball, but I'm not a die hard. I have to admit that the world series being played in the city I live in is pretty awesome. I've watched every game, and am hoping for the final game to be tonight, knock on wood. The city of Philly will go crazy, and while I am slightly affarid of that I can't wait to see it happen.

Go Phillies!!!!

Scarf!

I went scarf crazy yesterday. Well maybe i wasn't that crazy, but i finished my friends birthday gift, which was a gray cat hat, by the way her birthday was in July, and felt that i could start another project. So i pulled out some bulky yarn from my stash my size 11 straight needles (vintage of course) and cast on a skinny scarf that ended up about 6 feet in length. I finished it las night whilw watching sex in the city.
I loved the way the colors moved in giant waves throught the yarn. This scarf is deffinate;ly a candidate for etsy
