LT 09!

First day of camp, at least for me! It's the leadership team weekend where all the heads meet and get ready for staff to arrive at camp. I'm all ready super busy and sleepy.

For now camp will take over and I will only be able to blog two to three times a week. So, sadly I will not be updated as often as I usually am and I will also not be creating as much. I will however try to keep things as interesting as I can while living in the camp bubble.

Vintage: For Dad

I'm am doing vintage finds today instead of tomorrow as I may be in New Jersey tomorrow on camp Business.

Today's inspiration behind Vintage Finds is my dad. Father's Day is this Sunday and I must admit I'm daddy's little girl. Here are items that my dad, or any dad would love to get as gifts!

Clapotis II

Here is my second Clapotis! I tried something new and knit eyelet lace in the 5 stitch spaces of knits and purls. I love how it looks. I'm almost done, the yarn is a silk bamboo blend that i am just in love with.

Just a Quick One

Today is my last day babysitting for the summer. It will be a long one as one of the boys has a half day so I must be off soon to pick him up from school.

As for the spring cleaning Simon and I have decided to do that on Monday. I wanted to gop surfing, but Simon said it wouldn't be worth our time as the waves are going to be small. So I must wait two weeks for another chance to go surfing. *sigh*

I did however start packing for camp.

Thursday

My coffee, this cloudy muggy morning, is quite strong and wonderful.
It looks like rain and a part of me wants it to rain so that I can wear my new rain coat that I found at the thrift store. It's amazing! It's vintage, teal and the lining has little blue whales on it and since it was at the thrift store and not the vintage shop I got it for only one dollar. Now I don;t have to wear Simon's extra waterproof jacket when it rains.

I did get some work done yesterday. I edited my items in my etsy shop and I even sewed something. Now all I need to do is take pictures. The items are starting to pile up and I haven't had time, or the weather hasn't cooperated. Also our tiny apartment is being over taken by all my stash and inventory. It's time to finally do that spring cleaning Simon and I were talking about.

I am off to work soon for a few hours and then I have the afternoon off so I think I'll get started on that cleaning.

Vintage: Off to Camp!

During the summer Simon and I leave the noise hot city for 9 weeks and move out to middle of nowhere south Jersey. Out there in middle of nowhere south Jersey is a wonderful summer camp where we both work and teach. It's an arts camp for ages 9 to 17 and when I say arts camp I don't mean arts and crafts and sing a longs (although we do have those too), but a full blown curriculum of visual arts, Music, Dance, Theatre, Theatre Tech (which is what I'm in charge of), and Video. It's an amazing place to be and one of my favorite places to work and live. With this in mind today's vintage finds are inspired by this wonderful place dedicated to teaching art.

Update

Surfing was awesome yesterday. The weather was beautiful and the water was a bit warmer than last time (I still wore my wet suit). I got some great shots of Simon surfing, but he did not get any real good ones of me. He says he just needs practice.

It rained in Philly something fierce this morning at 7:30, thunder, lighting, rain, everything. The park across the street looks like a lake. If its ucky out today it might be a bit slow at work today. Oh well I have lots of things I need to do there anyway.

Tomorrow I have most of my day off so I'm hoping to get a lot of stuff around the apartment done, such as clean, sort through all the clothes don't wear, and hopefully sew somethings!

I leave for camp in 10 days!

Home Sweet Home

After a 6 hour drive Simon and I arrived back in Philly last night. It was so nice to be home, don;t get me wrong I love my family and Keuka Lake is a beautiful place to have grown up in, but I like the city and I love my own place.

I think I appreciate the Lake and my hometown more now that I don't live there. It is a wonderful area with tons of natural beauty and wonderful wine. (I love me some wine.) Seeing my family is great, we catch up, eat great food, drink great wine. (Again I love wine, and so does my mom.) Simon and I go on outing to the surrounding areas and overall just relax and take our time. (We also visit my favorite winery for a tasting, my mom is the tasting room manager so I get a free tasting and a nice 30% discount on my wine purchase.)

Enough about wine and lakes, we are back in Philly and I missed the busy noise of the city and our favorite pizza place just a few blocks over from our apartment. I never thought I would fall in love with Philly as much as I have. Right now where I am in my life I can't imagine living anywhere else.

Today's Plans

Simon and have been hanging around Yates county and today we are going even farther north, up to Rochester to visit my grandpa king and grandma heather. We are also picking up my brother from RIT and taking him with us. We are hoping for dinner somewhere yummy and out of our price range. (We are the only grand kids in the area, which works in our favor a lot og the time.) Not that we are spoiled...ok we're spoiled a little bit, but isn't that what grand parents are suppose to do.

I need to look up yarn stores and see if there are any close to where we are going, Simon will not approve, but hopfully I can find him a bike store, or something he would like to do while I look at yummy yarns.

I must be off to get ready for the day!

Watkins Glen

Simon and I spent the afternoon walking the glen at Watkins Glen. Here are a few pics of the waterfalls. It was beautiful and everything was so gree.

Where's your soap Simon?

After we walked the glen we were walking back to the car and I found a yarn store!!! It was amazing and they had gorgouse schaffer yarns and I bought some fingering weight hand dyed.

Upstate

Simon and I are Upstate this week, and by upstate I mean in New york...the state, not the city. Visiting the parents and hang out in my home town.

Footloose is over! Thank goodness, i love working in the theatre, but there are some people and situations that just make it unpleasent.

It's late and I'm sleepy from the long drive. Night for now, more for tomorrow.
