Finished!

Finished! I am finished with my lace. It's giant. These are the photos I took while it was blocking.

I love it. The shawl is long enough to wrap around and cover my arms.

Home is Where the Heart Is

Home, I love my apartment. I say this only because last night I stayed over to watch the boys I nanny as dad is on a bussiness trip. I like staying at my parents place when I visit, and Camp in the summer is my second home, but other than that I love my apartment.

This said I don't stay in my apartment and never go out. Although when it's cold out I would much rather stay in and cook and bake and of course knit. I sometimes think I am overly domestic. Simon does do the dishes and the laundry as those are two thinks I hate doing.

I start at a theatre gig in a few days, I can't wait. Techs are a lot of hurry up and do nothing, so I should be able to get a good chunk of my knitting for the spring done. I have a little over a month ot get my items made and photographed. My deadline for release is fast approaching, March 27th, but I should have lots of down time here and there up in the cat walks and in the green room. Perfect for knitting!

Aussie!

Simon and I went to breakfast at our favorite spot today and our conversation turned to Australia. This happens a lot since Simon is from Oz. We are trying to figure out our trip to Australia. Simon has to leave next January and I have to decide if I'm going over with him or coming a month after and how long am I staying? Not to mention the decision to get a partner visa or not.

The trip is a year away, but there is so much to think about and plan. I can't wait, although a 14 hour plan ride is not the perk of this trip. I have to decide how long I plan on staying and then get a visa or not get a visa. If i stay for 90 days or less I don't need a visa, but if I want to stay longer than 90 days I have to look into getting a partner visa or a longer visiter visa. Two decisions have been made. One, I am going to Australia in the spring and two, I am staying for at least four weeks.

I have a little time to make this decicion as I don't qualify for the partner visa till June, but I have to have my trip plans ready and set by August that means flight, and visa or no visa all in order. Along with setting up how my Etsy will run while I'm in the outback.

Oh and breakfast was awesome!

Spring Line

Things seemed to be going as planed with my spring items. I have my tote bags all finished and I've started my bamboo tams, and soon I will be knitting banana silk scarves. Soon I will be ordering buttons and mini cards and hopefully do a small amount of screen printing. Just maybe on the screen printing, as I may save that till the fall.

With this all said I will be ready to release and list my new items on March 27th.

I've Been spinning lately. I remembered how much I love it. Soon I hope to have some photos of some finished yarn.

My lace is almost done. I have another lace project lined up, but I want to make a bolaro jacked so i'm not sure which to make first. I wish I could knit all day long.

Lady of Leisure

I am a lady of leisure today. It is a day off for me. I slept in to almost noon, watched the end of Pride and Prejudice, knit on my lace (which is huge!) and now I'm going to actually do some errends and work.

Tonight Simon and I are going to a brithday party at our favorite watering hole the Nodding Head.

I designed a new scarf and my replace the knit mesh scarf with the on I just made. The new one is easier to create and way more interesting than the first one. I haven't started on my scarves so it will be easy to replace the old ones with the new design.

Opening Night

Sorry that I haven't posted in a couple of days. I have been working, working, working, and the weather has been unseasonable nice out.

The past few days, or nights I should say, I have been in rehearsals for a show I've ben designing. It's called 5 By 6 and it's five one act plays preformed by six actors. It's at the Subin Theatre between 5th and 4th st on Bainbridge. It opens tonight at 8pm.

It's a small space with a low grid and only 14 lighting instruments and 8 circuts. The instruments are all par 38 and should be par 56 for the space. When I was focusing my them i kept getting dark seams were the lights were just not spreading enough. I refocused 5 different times 3 different ways and finally just hung the only spare instrument I had. This seemed to remedy the problem.

I'll have to post my pics to flikr.

8x14

I worked today on the show I'm designing. It was the first rehearsal in the space. I went in and hung and focused the lights. We cued the show tonight. I can't tell what I think about the show as all we did was lighting tonight.

It's five one acts and I like most of them. There are one or two I could do with out, but Marc the director is really nice and easy to work with. I'm excited to be doing a design. The space is small and limited. I only have 8 circuts and 14 lighting instruments. My college black box had more than that and we were ghetto and poor!

So Warm

It was so nice here in Phliiy today. It was in the midd 50s! I was able to wear a dress and not freeze to death.

Not much is happening as I worked today. Tomorrow I load in the show I'm designing and go into tech with it. I don;t care too much for the loading in part, but I do enjoy the teching of the show.

I also am waiting and hoping for a contract from another theatre. I may be a spot op again for a show. I hope, I hope, I hope!

100th

This is my 100th post. It's so exciting, ok it's not that exciting, but it hasn't been a vry eventful day, or week for that matter.

I have most of today off so it's going to be an errend type of day. The usual stuff food shopping and cleaning.

The one cool productive thing I did so far today was set up my email newsletter for Blue Betty. You can sign up here on my blog. I started the newsletter to update those who want to be in the know about Blue Betty. It's going to only go out about once a month to let interested peeps know what's going on, what's new, and if I'm doing any special sale, or event. If anything it will be fun.

That is all for now I must be off to run errends.

Brrrrrrrrrrrr

It is cold! Really cold! Monday was so warm and beautiful and the last few days have been the total oppisit.

I haven't been too productive with my spring items, only having knit one hat.
My release date has been set and I'll be announcing when that is soon. I just need to get all my ducks in a row.

Update

Yesterday was my day off and it was so beautiful outside. It was 48F yesterday when I left the apartment and walked all over Philly. I didn't get too much done as I ran into friends at Whole Foods and spent the afternoon with them. I did finish one hat. Just one, but it's a start. I plan on knitting more once I'm working at the theatre again at the end of the month.

As for right now I must be off to my day job. I'm working like crazy this next two weeks.
