Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween!

I'm going to a birthday/Welcome to the country/Halloween party tonight and I'm not sure if i'm going to dress up. Well i might wear more make-up than usual. Either way it will be fun to go. The party is for my two friends one has a birthday today, and his fiance has just moved to the states to stay. She's from York and i'm so excited that she's here.

Today was the Phillies celebration parade. I went and got some photos. Simon had class and since he's a good student he didn't skip, although it's a two hour wait for septa so it might take him awhile to get home.

Pretty Trees

I just posted two new items in my shop. Tonight I think i'll set up my etsy mini.
Check out this pics I took near my street.

The sun in the trees was so beautiful.

And I loved the tunnel these trees make over the side walk.

Broad Street

Simon and I just got back from Broad Street. It's crazy, there are people everywhere.

I love that the clock tower at city hall is in these pictures.

Go Phillies!!!!!!!!!!!

The Phillies just won the World Series!!!!!!!!

Blue Betty is Open!!

I opened my Etsy shop tonight!!
Vist me at bluebettyshop.etsy.com, as of right now I only have four things up, but soon there will be more!

I really can't contain myself, I finally opened my Etsy shop for real real. I've been thinking about this for about five months and I've been activly planning for about two months.

The scarfs in the pic are in my shop, well the purple one and the green one are. I'll psot the yellow one in a day or two. But that's enough about me i'm listening to the world series game and hoping for a Phillies win. This waiting for the finish of the game has been so hard. The city is so energized, I'm so excited to be living in this city at this time.

More for later!

GO PHILLIES!!!

Cold and Windy

Today was super cold. It might not have been too bad if it wasn't rainning or windy out. I was kind of glad to be at work all day in a nice warm shop. Since I'm originally from upstate New York I feel wussy if I have to turn the heat on before November. I rmember waking up at 6:30 in the morning to get ready for school and the floors in the house being chilly.

The only exception is if it snows and stays below 40 degrees for a week. No wonder I love making scrafs and hats. Brrrrrrrrrrr....I'm glad I have my very own Simon Space Heater in my bed.

Almost two scarfs done I'll post pics tomorrow.

Purple Scarf

So maybe I did go Scarf Crazy. I started my third today and it's quite lovely. In my pile of yarn, that is mostly tucked away in a nice box/coffee table thing, I found this vibrent hand painted purple yarn. Bulky and wool so it will work up fast and be super warm. I'll post a pic when it's done. I'm a little less than half way through, but I expect to finish tonight durring the 5th game of the world series.

I like baseball, but I'm not a die hard. I have to admit that the world series being played in the city I live in is pretty awesome. I've watched every game, and am hoping for the final game to be tonight, knock on wood. The city of Philly will go crazy, and while I am slightly affarid of that I can't wait to see it happen.

Go Phillies!!!!

Scarf!

I went scarf crazy yesterday. Well maybe i wasn't that crazy, but i finished my friends birthday gift, which was a gray cat hat, by the way her birthday was in July, and felt that i could start another project. So i pulled out some bulky yarn from my stash my size 11 straight needles (vintage of course) and cast on a skinny scarf that ended up about 6 feet in length. I finished it las night whilw watching sex in the city.
I loved the way the colors moved in giant waves throught the yarn. This scarf is deffinate;ly a candidate for etsy

No More Excuses

I have no more excusses. I can't be a bad blogger any more. Yesterday was internet day in the apartment and after two verison guys a new phone jack, a modem, and my serious consideration of throwing my laptop out our living room window we have internet. Damn good internet too.

So now I can sit in my living room, look out on South Philly and blog and shop etsy till my hearts content, or untill Simon needs to do homework. Right now i'm sitting eating my breakfast and typing this post oh how wonderous it is to have internet

Jobs

My time at the theatre is winding down as there is only four more shows to go. I'm glad to get more time to work on my etsy shop and make fun things, but I will miss the theater. It's not a huge pay check, but it's nice to get one every week.

I have a day job to go back to, and the funny thing is I like this day job a lot. It pays alright, and I make more than enough there to cover my rent and utilities. But I really want to work on my own terms. I thought by being a lighting designer I would be able to do that, but the more and more I sit in tech rehearsals and watch and listen to directors and designers the more I learn that the designer isn't as free as I want to be.

I hope by opening my etsy store I can have a say in what I create, but I want to make everything! I guess I really need to pick one thing to start with and then move on to include other things.

6 More days to internet in the Apartment.

Why i'm a bad blogger

I admit i'm a bad blogger, or at least for right now. I know everyone has excusses, but here are mine for now, after Oct. 23 i will have no more excusses.

1. I'm working 60 hours a week. Between 40 at the theatre, 12 at the shop, and 6 watching two rowdy boys it adds up to not a lot of me time.

2. Simon and i moved and i've been lazy about getting internet in our new apt. Today i spent 45 min on the phone getting set up with my new internet provider, so after the 23 i can't use this excuss any more.

3. I like sleeping in.

4. Going to the Coffee shop everyday is expensive and a little wierd.

So there are my excusses. I can't wait to have internet in my new place, I'll be able to blog and run my etsy store way better than i am now. Of Course not working at the theatre will also give me more me time.

Here I am

Here I am!

OK so i'm living in Philly and working in the theatre industry and no I am not an actor. I'm a Stage electrician. As of right now i'm working on a show in Old City as a spot light operator and let me just say that it is cutting in to my knitting time. That's right i'm a knitter and crocheter. When I'm not at the theatre you can find me in a yarn store or my favorite coffee shop.

Even though it's philly and the Jersey shore is about an hour away I love to surf. I know it's only the Jersey Shore, but it was a good place to learn. Smallish waves, althought it tends to be crowded durring he summer. The waves get bigger and cleaner in the fall as the crowds get smaller and the water gets colder. That's another thing working cuts into surfing. It's October, I know, but i just bought my first wet suit and was ready for the fall, but then I went and got hired on a show that runs from September 3 to October 19th. My partner in crime is still keen on going as soon I get a rare day off.

Oh, my Partner in Crime is my boyfriend Simon. He's the real surfer in this relationship. He was born and raised in NSW Australia and has been surfing for about twenty years. Why he would move to Jersey is beyond me. I hope it's because he thinks I'm cute.

More to come as I find time to tell you more about me and who I am.
Here's Simon surfing a smallish wave at Ocean City.
And yes that is me surfing in my profile pic.

more to come
